For over three generations in the wood sector, we have been producing laminated profiles with the widest range of essences among national producers.

The know-how acquired over three generations has led to a careful selection of the raw materials directly in the countries of origin.

The selection for the composition of the profile is carried out with the most modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, without neglecting a last check by the attentive and expert human eye, which can perceive the true essence of an ever-changing raw material such as the wood. The choice made by GRUPPOLEGNO is certainly more onerous, however, qualitatively unparalleled.

For over a century, in the wood sector.

The use of automatisms, through modern systems, is extensive, however, it is essential skilful human dexterity which determines the difference in qualitative terms.

The selection of logs and timber, the search for the most suitable characteristics, has remained unchanged over time.

This is the basis of the production cycle of GRUPPOLEGNO.

The entire production is made following the strict protocols of the CATAS QUALITY AWARDS certification. The process takes place in environments with controlled humidity and temperature 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The timber, dried in cells equipped with inverters, is multi-bladed and inserted into computerized optimization lines, planed with hydro-tool moulders and then glued with the high-frequency technique.

At the end of this phase, the products are checked, selected and registered with the affixing of the unique barcode which certifies the quality, reports the production data and total traceability.

The Civita di Oricola (AQ) plant has a total area of 27,000 m2, including 5,100 m2 used as a factory, 1,000 m2 used as a warehouse, 700 m2 used as drying cells and 70 m2 used as a thermal power station

The history of Gruppolegno

Early 1900s

The company, founded by Luigi Lumaca (grandfather of the current CEO), deals with the cutting of the woods and the trade of logs.

50s

Start of the transformation activity thanks to a transportable sawmill.

Late 80s

Acquisition of shares in a forestry company, with associated sawmill and shearing mill, in Liberia (West Africa).

90's

The sawmill activity of LUMACA LEGNAMI SpA is transferred to the newly established GRUPPOLEGNO (1994) managed by the third generation; the production of profiles and laminated panels is implemented.

Gluing is performed using a high-frequency technique which heats the glue layer and not the wood. This awards a high degree of stability to the final product.

All products are certified CQA and FSC or PEFC depending on their origin.

Traceability

A barcode is assigned to every gluelam to attest its traceability.

Measurement

Each single unit clearly shows the section and length in order to facilitate its use.
